Linjiang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Southernmost Jilin. The Linjiang Fm was named by the Southern Jilin Party of Regional Geological Survey, Changchun College of Geological Exploration in 1960. The type section is at Laosandui-Huashan-Linjiang, Hunjiang City, Jilin Province. Upper-middle (4 of 5) formation in Laoling Gr.
Synonym: (临江组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Linjiang Fm is subdivided into three parts. Lower part is composed of thick-bedded quartzite sandwiched with carbonaceous slate, fine-grained sandstone and thin-bedded two-mica schist. Middle part consists of staurolite-two-mica schist, sericite quartz schist with quartzite. Upper part is medium-thick-bedded quartzite with sericite quartz schist. The thickness is recorded to 1528 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It conformably rests on the underlying Huashan Fm.
Upper contact
It conformably overlies on the Dalizi Fm.
Regional extent
Southernmost Jilin. The Linjiang Fm is distributed in a belt shape of NEE direction on east and west sides of Linjiang Town. It is also sporadically exposed in Heping Village, Tonghua County and Mayihe Township, Changbai County.
